One Dozen Spots for Night Owls in London

Updated: Dec 10, 2019

London's nightlife couldn't possibly be compared to any other. If you are like me and you like to explore bars with an authentic persona, a very much original atmosphere and a vibe so true to itself while sipping on a pint, please continue reading. Here are my favorite bars in the city (so far). Each one is extremely different from the other, their locations are also dispersed all around the city, and they all offer a unique touch to your stunning night.

Just a few steps away from Camden Market you'll find this edgy pub with an upstairs bar and roof terrace. It constantly hosts live gigs of local British bands. It's a great pub to start the night with it's good pub-food, friendly staff, and their own brewed beer. Fun fact: Amy Winehouse used to work as a bartender here.

Hawley Arms

This gastropub is situated just off Marylebone High Street. Looking for a cozy pub in Marylebone to have a few cocktails and a bite don't be shy and check it out. It has outside seating with heaters as well as cozy bar seatings and a second floor for dinning.

The Cavendish

The Lexington is both a pub and a venue. It is one of the gems of London's indie/oldie style place to spend your night. There's a wide range of bourbons and American beers in the floor bar. Upstairs it's where the dancing happens as it has an open dance floor with DJs or small bands playing on weekends. So far it's my favorite venue to go and hear some wide range of music I would typically listen to on my iPod.

The Marylebone is a variety of Love Potions, a.k.a. infusions made by them and used for delicious and original cocktails. Came here on a Sunday and had a great time with it's cozy environment and live music. Great place to start or end the end if you find yourself in Marylebone.

Boxpark is the world’s first pop-up mall, it is made of shipping containers that contain a variety of independent and global fashion stores, cafes, and on the second floor comfort food and drinks. It is situated underneath the elevated Shoreditch High Street Overground station. Come here to shop, eat, and drink, what more could you want?

Juju’s Bar & Stage is a bar and events space located at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. Juju is a wide-open space where a variety of events, live music, and film screenings partake. There is an outdoor tiki bar with picnic tables and a warehouse as an indoor space. Check out their website as there are weekly events such as Brazilian and Cuban live music nights, Funk and soul and London's finest DJ's.

Jujus Bar

This trendy rooftop bar is located in London Fields with 360-degree views of the East London skyline. It is a very laid-back place with a very hip atmosphere. It is great for day-drinking in the summer, it also serves pizza and other street foods. (It is currently closed and will open up again in April.)

Netil360

The perfect place to grab a drink after a long day with colleagues during weekdays, going to watch stand-up comedy, listen to live music, pub quiz night, watch the match or a Sunday roast. It's a traditional pub with a cozy beer garden with fire pits and great beers on draft. If you are feeling to escape a bit from the city center don't hesitate in stopping by here as it is located in Hammersmith.

The Distilers

This unique place located in Hackney Wick is now a bar but used to be an old factory. Now with its recycled decor and own micro-brewery you can enjoy a delicious slice of pizza and DJ sets. It's a massive place with outdoor seating next to the canal as well as indoor tables. Beer and pizza never looked or tasted so good.

Crate Brewery and Pizzeria

If you find yourself around Barbican this gastropub is a great place to try out typical British dishes accompanied with a pint or your favorite cocktail. I tried my first Scotch egg here and there is definitely nothing like it.

The Jugged Hare

Located in Soho this Friendly bar, serves friendly drinks from very friendly staff. It's a small underground gay bar with amazing decor that changes in every lounge area. The cocktails are made with great love and the music is so on point.

Friendly Society

The Blues Kitchen brings a touch of southern soul to East London. The venue is filled with music posters imported from Nashville and comfy leather booths to enjoy some blues with friends. It has the most delicious burgers and other American style dishes like chicken wings and mac n' cheese. On Mondays the burgers are two for one and cocktails are £5. Enjoy a great start of the week with some jazzy tunes and an old fashion. There is one in Shoreditch and Camden.

If you haven't yet read the first 'Happenstance' story go here now. The story is based in this tiki speakeasy underneath the breakfast club. Just go in by stating "I want to get lucky."
